ABOUT
Between worlds, between fields.
I work at the intersection of technology, security and policy, translating between the people who build technology, the people who exploit it and the people who have to govern it. My Iranian roots are part of that work. Growing up between languages and worldviews is useful training for a field where the hardest problems sit between disciplines.
Problems rarely arrive on a convenient schedule. Sometimes a technology is still forming and the question is what it will mean; sometimes it has already broken something and the question is what to do now. I work at either end.
Either way, the job is the same: Enough technical detail to know what a development actually does, and enough political sense to know who it threatens. Neither works alone. I want to be the person people bring a problem to when it does not fit anywhere else, when the question falls between departments and between disciplines.
I am currently the Head of Development at the Bloomsbury Intelligence and Security Institute (BISI), where I write on emerging technologies, threats and the regulation catching up with both.
